I watched some amazing baseball this weekend. The Kentucky Wildcats needed a big series to help them try to secure a spot in the SEC Tournament. They had an incredible weekend and ended up sweeping the defending champions, the LSU Tigers. And they did it in dramatic fashion.
Game 1 was won on Lance Ray's monster three run walk-off home run in the bottom of the ninth inning. Here are some images from that game. You couldn't have asked for more beautiful baseball weather, complete with a nice sunset over Cliff Hagan Stadium.
Unfortunately the weather wasn't as cooperative for Game 3. A light rain fell during the entire 3 hrs and 33 minutes of the game. I don't think any Kentucky fans left though even with a rocky start and the Cats falling behind early. In his last home at bat, senior catcher Marcus Nidiffer blasted a grand slam home run in the bottom of the 8th on a full count. It was sick! I think they will be talking about that one and this series around here for years to come!
It was the first time since 1991 that the Cats swept LSU and only the second time in program history. Go Big Blue!
